History

The land that has become Diamond T Farms was owned by Ernest Bailey and his wife Minnie Smith Bailey.

Ernest Wesley Bailey graduated from Sardis Normal School and was manager of Stegall Gin and Store. He was also a rural letter carrier for the Huron post office and was president of the Rural Letter Carriers Association from 1924 to 1936.

Ernest was a member of Rotary International and the Masonic Lodge, and was also a founding member of Henderson County Community Hospital. He raised Hereford cattle on the farm that was founded in 1919.

Minnie Smith Bailey was a school teacher and housewife, active in 4H and school parent-teacher associations for many years.

Steve Turner took over operation of the farm in 1976, at which time he raised hogs, Hereford, and Angus cattle. With a changing economy and pressures of a growing family built, Steve entered the public work force. During this time, he trained horses and sold hay harvested from the farm. Now in retirement, he is returning to his roots and resurrecting the Diamond T brand.
